The goal of the Blue Marlins summer swim team is to teach swimmers basic, competitive swimming skills through regular practices and competitive swim meets. Designed especially for children who are just beginning to swim competitively, learning and hard work is balanced with recognition, rewards, and fun. Our program stresses dedication to individual self-improvement, good sportsmanship, and team spirit.

The Blue Marlins Swim Team has a long history as a fun and highly spirited summer swim team. The team's ultimate success, however, also depends on our parents and the dedication, cooperation, and hard work that they contribute to make it successful. Our head coach for the 2011 season will be Blake McKay. Our volunteer swim-team coordinator is Steve Macha assisted by Kelly Berg-Clarke and Bill Clarke.

Swim Lessons

If your swimmer needs some help learning strokes (remember, swim practice is swim practice, not swim lessons), swim lessons will be available for a fee. Check with the coach, Blake, or one of the assistant coaches to arrange for lessons.

We’ve also posted some instructional videos for each stroke. Please remember, these videos are for illustration purposes only. Your coach will provide you with detailed instructions.

Sponsorship

This web site is hosted by ComSite International. ComSite International is owned by Sean Burchell who has generously donated the hosting on his servers and the domain name registration. Sean is a Whispering Oaks resident, has children on the Blue Marlins, takes pictures and videos throughout the season (and provides an end-of-year DVD retrospective to parents) and volunteers as a stroke judge during swim meets. If you have need of a web hosting service, contact Sean!

“Club” swimmer

$67. Includes team T-shirt. This is for swimmers (6th grade and up) who swim year-round with one of the area clubs (Wave, Alamo Area Aqautics, etc) and who won’t be attending Blue Marlins practices regularly.
